Peter Lawrence is a tireless advocate for Vermont families, working to help clients receive fair and reasonable outcomes in life’s most unreasonable situations. Lawrence’s 20 years of practice in family law serves as the foundation for one of the most reputable family law attorneys in the state. Committed to his clients, his community, and to improving the justice system, he is a member of nearly every family law judicial committee in the state of Vermont regarding family matters, including the Vermont Family Division Rules Committee, the Vermont Family Division Oversight Committee, and the Vermont Family Division Experimental Project, which he helped to found. Lawrence also chairs the Bennington County Family Division Bench/Bar Committee. Aside from his commitment to improving how the Vermont State Family Division delivers services to litigants, Lawrence began his career as an educator, and gained early career experience assisting young people re-enter their communities through educational alternatives. He continues this work in practice and outside of his practice, most notably as one of the founders of Bennington’s sister city relationship with the town of Somotillo, Nicaragua. Lawrence remains of counsel at BarrSternberg, advising and guiding the next generation of family law legacies at the firm.
