One of Vermont’s most reputable and experienced criminal defense teams has now expanded its reach, adding well-known criminal defense trial attorney Christopher Montgomery to its practice. This addition will grow the firm’s reach, expanding their work in Windham and Rutland Counties.

Montgomery is the second major addition to the firm in the last year, which continues to aggressively grow its attorney talent. He comes to BarrSternberg following more than 12 years with Abatiell & Associates (now Furlan & Associates), where he gained a reputation for his outstanding defense of accused individuals. Representing defendants throughout the state, Montgomery has extensive ties and familiarity in Windham and Rutland Counties, where he will continue to take cases.

Drawn to BarrSternberg’s criminal defense team, Montgomery looks forward to working with firm partners David F. Silver and Michael S. Muson and associate attorney Rachel Strecker, developing exemplary defenses for individual Vermonters from all walks of life.

“While I’ve spent many years defending clients in Windham and Rutland County, I was compelled by the opportunity to work with some of the state’s best defense attorneys.” Montgomery added, “I look forward to the chance this provides to provide a fullness of focus and resources to each and every case. This is a firm that is truly investing in talented attorneys and support, arguing every case from personal injury to defense to family law as if it were their own family members fate on the line.”

“We are pleased to add Chris to our firm’s team,” Neil Moss, senior managing partner said. “The foundation of our firm’s success is built on our team approach. Chris’s experience, expertise, personal conviction and litigation passion was an obvious match that will deepen our legal bench, allowing BarrSternberg to take on additional clients and cases without compromising on outstanding legal representation.”

Montgomery is graduated with his BA from Rice University and his J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Prior to relocating to Vermont in 1996, Montgomery worked for several years in Texas where he focused on corporate, civil, criminal and immigration law. He is admitted to be the Vermont and Texas Bar.
